Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Fans can anticipate finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
