PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
